Transformer Adapters
Transformer adapters are used to detect differential current when it is not possible to protect all conductors of the system with a single toroidal transformer, by connecting them with 3 or 4 current transformers. In high amperages, increasing the toroidal diameter drastically increases the cost. Systems established with transformer adapters, which function as current collectors, are much more affordable. In applications of 1000 A and above, it reduces costs by half. The terminals obtained by connecting 4 current transformers of the same type and with the same transformation ratio in parallel are connected to the transformer adapter. Another point to consider when making this connection is that the primary current value of the current transformer must be equal to the value of the transformer adapter. Transformer adapter systems also allow connection with detachable current transformers without removing busbars or cables, especially in residual current protection systems that will be added to the system later. Transformer adapters are suitable for all AC applications of types A, AC and F.
